I decided to consolidate 2 of my previous bikes into 1 in January 2022. I combined my lightest road bike and my gravel bike into a light gravel bike, which that was on the road side of the gravel spectrum. I wanted to keep on bike in my stable that allowed for wide gravel tires. |
I bought this frame as new old stock on eBay in July 2018. The idea was to get all my road bikes set up with di2 and reduce my road/gravel fleet from 4 to 3. Each of those remaining 3 bikes had their distinct geometry, personality, and purpose, while maintaining similar distances between the contact points.

I stumbled upon this frame at a great price on eBay in April 2018. It was offered by a vendor in Scotts Valley. I have a weakness for Merckx bikes and this is very different from my other bikes. It has disc brakes, but has road geometry not gravel/touring angles. It is set up for internal di2 routing and the reviews said it was a phenomenal descending bikes. I could not resist.

I purchased this frame used on eBay in 2005.
The tubing is a combination of 6AL/4V and 3AL/2.3V titanium, with many tubes being shaped.
Of particular note is the huge, aero 6/4 downtube.
This frame was built to Eddie Merckx's specs by Lightspeed.
The decals were in pretty bad shape when I bought the frame, so I replaced them.
Since I could not find replacement decals that match the originals, I used decals for a Merckx Ti AX frame. |
